UPC, once again present at the APAIE Conference and Exhibition
Mar 26, 2025
UPC returns to participate in the APAIE Conference and Exhibition, one of the leading events for educational internationalisation.
Once again, UPC participates in the international conference organised by APAIE (Asia-Pacific Association for International Education), which includes a university exhibition, held annually in a different Asian or Pacific country. APAIE 2025, held from March 24 to 28 in Delhi (India), is a key event for establishing partnerships with universities in the Asia-Pacific region.
Prof. Lourdes Reig, Vice-Rector for International Policy, and Helena Martínez, Director of the International Relations Bureau, represent UPC at this event, under the "Study in Catalonia" umbrella, the brand of the Catalan university system aimed at promoting Catalan universities.
The event hosts over 2,000 delegates from various countries worldwide. This congress is the most important for establishing partnerships with Asian institutions and encouraging student participation from this region in UPC programmes.
During the 2024-25 academic year, UPC has welcomed over 1,000 undergraduate and master's students from 29 Asian nationalities, as well as 400 Ph.D. students from 25 Asian countries.
UPC's International Policy in Asia
Currently, UPC has 80 academic cooperation agreements with 47 institutions from 10 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. These include 4 Double Degree agreements.
Throughout 2024, UPC organised visits from 55 institutions and organisations from Asian countries such as South Korea, China, Kazakhstan, and Thailand. In the first quarter of 2025, 10 visits from countries like South Korea, China, and Malaysia have been organised, reflecting the growing interest in establishing relations with UPC.
UPC is also part of the Sino-Spanish Campus (SSC) at Tongji University (China), together with Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Tecnológico de Monterrey, and Universidad de Sevilla. The SSC is a platform for academic cooperation, research, and innovation between China, Spain, and Latin America.
Furthermore, UPC is one of the eligible universities for the prestigious China Scholarship Council programme from the Chinese government.
UPC's participation in APAIE helps to establish links with Asian institutions and intensify the university's internationalisation in this region.
