2025 Tongji Forum for young UPC researchers

The Tongji University invites 15-20 young scholars from UPC to participate in a one-week academic program.

2025 Tongji Forum for young Researchers from Spain and China (2025 Tongji FYSSC) is sponsored by Ministry of Education of China, hosted by Tongji University and organized by the Sino-Spanish Campus at Tongji University, in which UPC participates.

The objective of the forum is to promote the exchange of perspectives on academic frontiers and provide an interdisciplinary dialogue space to explore new lines of collaboration in strategic research fields.

Dates and location

July 1 - July 8, 2025 (to be confirmed). Tongji University, Shanghai (China).

General Information

The program will recruit 15 to 20 outstanding international young researchers specialized in the following fields:

  • architecture
  • civil engineering
  • aerospace engineering
  • telecommunication
  • computer science
  • maths
  • physics
  • chemistry
  • life science

Participants will spend one week on sharing academic ideas with partnership in Tongji University, Ningbo and Nanjing. The program will also arrange a series of lectures and visits, providing the participants opportunities to understand Chinese academic cutting-edge perspectives and prospects for interdisciplinary integration and application, exchanging academic views and exploring possibilities for cooperation.

Financial conditions

Tongji University will cover the costs of the round-trip airfare, accommodation, living expenses, academic activities and visits during the summer program.

Participants will have to cover the cost visa fees, if applicable (not required for Spanish citizens and stays of less than 1 month).

Deadline for submission of applications

Applications must be submitted before March 30, 2025.

Eligibility

Contract: to have the status of Research Teaching Staff contracted by the UPC (at the time of application and until after the stay in Tongji).
Exceptions: Doctoral students who are not contracted as PDI by the UPC are therefore excluded, as well as research staff who are on a stay at the UPC but are not UPC contracted staff.
Age: less than 45 years old.
Nationality: all (except Xinese).

How to apply

Interested persons should send an e-mail to: faculty.mobility@suport.upc.edu with the title: “Tongji 2025 Forum”, attaching the following documents:

  • Copy of the full passport details
  • Short motivation letter in English
  • Digital passport size photo (JPG <1MB)
  • Brief memory explaining the research line of the participant (maximum 300 words, including the link to the research profile or CV).

Selection of participants

Subsequently, the applicants will be notified of the result and the organization will provide the selected persons with an invitation letter to formalize their participation.
