The nanotechnology and its application to the textile industry generates a lot of expectative to the sector.

It is one of INTEXTER’s priority lines of research. Here a prototype was designed for the first time to obtain textile nanofibers in a controlled and reproducible way, by electrospinning, a technique that allows them to be produced by electrostatic charges.

This technique is currently being developed for medical applications and the result of studies are several patents and a spin-off.

On the other hand, the use of different substances as a filler of fibres and nanofibers to obtain new fibres with special properties has also been studied.

The use of carbon nanoparticles allows us to obtain nanofibers for superconductors.

The use of ceramic nanoparticles in the manufacture of polyester fibres allows to obtain polyester with special properties. The study of the processes of compatibility of the two phases is one of the lines currently under development.
