The Times Higher Education Young University Rankings assesses the top universities around the world that are aged 50 years or under, including 250 institutions in this edition. However, it does not include universities that do not offer bachelor’s degrees or that had a scientific production of fewer than 1,000 articles between 2012 and 2016 (with a minimum of 150 per year). The reference bibliographic database is Elsevier's Scopus.
The analysis is based on the indicators used in the THE World University Ranking, with the indicators adjusted to give less weight to reputation. There are five main indicators: Citations, Industry Income, International Outlook, Research and Teaching.
In the 2018 edition, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) is in the 101-150 rank in the world, in the 61-88 rank in Europe, and in the 5-7 rank in Spain. It is also the top technical university in Spain. The UPC’s results can be consulted here.
