The INTEXTER creates a virtual ‘tailor’ that tells you your size when you purchase clothes online
The Terrassa Institute of Textile Research and Industrial Cooperation (INTEXTER) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) is coordinating the European project MORPHEOS, in the framework of which the application ‘ISizeYou’ has been developed. The application acts as a virtual tailor and takes measurements so that it can tell you what size is right for you when you buy items of clothing on the internet.

The UPC’s INTEXTER, on the Terrassa Campus, together with the companies iDeal and Holonix, the Italian clothing manufacturer Piacenza, the Technical University of Munich and the Technology Institute on Metal-Processing, Furniture, Wood, Packaging and Related Industries (AIDIMME) have worked on MORPHEOS, a project that has led to the world’s first system that can guarantee absolute precision in taking measurements of the human body so that online clothes buyers can choose the right size for themselves.
The introduction of this system and the application ‘ISizeYou’ (which is being tested and is currently only available for iPhone on the Italian clothing manufacturer Piacenza’s website) will allow online fashion outlets to significantly reduce the number of returns due to wrong sizes and, as a result, the costs generated by this process.
