Scimago Institutions Rankings, also known as the SIR World Report, analyse institutions from five sectors: government, health, universities, companies and non-profit. For institutions to be included, they must have published at least 100 works in the SCOPUS database during the last year of the five-year period analysed, which ends two years before the edition of the ranking. The results used for the 2022 edition are those from the five-year period 2016-2020, with the exception of web indicators, which are calculated only for the last year. The ranking analyses 17 indicators grouped into three major areas based on research, innovation and societal impact, and provides overall results but also subject area rankings.
In the 2022 SIR World Report, considering all subject areas and sectors, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya · BarcelonaTech (UPC) has climbed 47 positions and is ranked the world’s 407th best. In the ranking by university, the UPC has climbed 14 positions and is placed 256th in the world.
