The UPC, among the world’s top 100 in the SDGs Climate Action, Life Below Water and Life On Land according to the THE Impact Rankings
In the 2022 THE Impact Rankings, which assess the impact of universities’ contributions to the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UPC is ranked the world’s 71st university in Climate Action, 74th in Life Below Water and 85th in Life On Land. In the global ranking, the UPC remains in the 201-300 band.

The fourth edition of the THE Impact Rankings has been published. The rankings assess the impact of universities’ contributions to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Times Higher Education’s Impact Rankings publish two types of lists: an overall list, which is calculated from the score in SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals) and the best three scores in the remaining SDGs, and a list for each individual SDG, which ranks the universities that have provided data in each goal. The rankings calculate and weigh over 200 indicators from almost 1,500 institutions. Some of them are submitted by the participating universities, which must provide supporting evidence, and others are obtained by the publishers themselves, such as bibliometric variables from the Scopus database.
In the latest edition of the rankings, the UPC maintains its position among the world’s 300 best universities (201-300 band) in the global ranking and is ranked among the world’s top 100 in SDG 13 Climate Action, SDG 14 Life Below Water and SDG 15 Life On Land, in which it is 71st, 74th and 85th, respectively. The University has obtained its best scores in SDG 9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (85.2 points out of 100), in SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities (76.5 points) and in the global ranking (78.9 points). SDG 9 and SDG 11 were combined with SDG 13, as the UPC’s top scores in the goals, to calculate its ranking in the overall list.
