More than 200 students at the UPC's Week of Engineering Competition
From 25 November to 1 December, the 10th edition of the Week of Engineering Competition (WEC) will be held at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), with more than 200 engineering students enrolled. During the WEC, students from any school of the UPC can get out of the classroom and participate in competitions, activities and group dynamics with companies, to test their knowledge and skills and give them a real work experience for a few hours.

The Week of Engineering Competition (WEC) is organised by the student association BEST Barcelona, a member of the Board of European Students of Technology (BEST),which has 95 local groups in technical universities in 33 countries. The event starts with the local phase of the European BEST Engineering Competition (EBEC), the largest university competition in engineering organised by students in Europe, which takes place on 25 and 26 November at the Barcelona East School of Engineering (EEBE). This year, coinciding with the 10th edition of the WEC at the UPC, the number of students participating in the competition has doubled to a total of 100.
The WEC is also a meeting point between companies and students. Throughout the week, group dynamics with companies, talks with entrepreneurs and training sessions will be held at schools of the UPC in Barcelona (on the North, South and Diagonal-Besòs campuses) and in Terrassa. These activities are specially designed to make students leave their comfort zone and to allow companies to see them in action. It will test students’ technical knowledge and personal skills in an interdisciplinary setting similar to that of the labour market because they will be working with colleagues from other degree courses. This is an opportunity for students to get closer to the workplace and to contact the companies in which they are most interested.
